Logistics Supervisor Job Description
Job Overview:
As a Logistics Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the movement of goods and materials within the company. Your role will involve monitoring and managing day-to-day logistics activities, scheduling deliveries, troubleshooting delivery issues, and optimizing order fulfillment.
Responsibilities:
- Set up shipping and distribution networks to meet customer needs and align with business strategies.
- Develop profitable and efficient delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries.
- Negotiate deals with third-party distribution centers, couriers, and transportation suppliers.
- Manage inventory levels and merchandise flow, implementing processes to improve visibility and accuracy.
- Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and optimize stock levels.
- Review invoices, reconcile discrepancies, and authorize payments.
- Maintain knowledge of compliance policies and ensure adherence to safety regulations and government policies.
- Liaise with dispatch, warehouse, customer service, and other departments.
- Resolve delivery issues and proactively address any potential delays.
- Keep all logistics operations organized and maintain proper documentation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with logistics and supply chain principles.
- Knowledge of modern transportation technologies, such as TMS, GPS, and the Internet of Things.
